Make A Difference

Many of our residents choose Vista del Monte because of the strong bonds they have developed with the greater Santa Barbara community. Our residents express their love of life by making a difference in the lives of others. The Vista Volunteer Program is made up of 49 volunteers who give back to Vista and the Santa Barbara community at large by giving more than 850 hours per month. Our Garden Committee volunteers at the Santa Barbara Mission. We have on-call substitute teachers who volunteer at local schools, docents who offer their time to the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and senior peer counselors who help people deal with the challenges of aging.
 
Resident Joan Fallert is a 30-year veteran educator who teaches adult education at nearby Santa Barbara City College. Currently, she teaches those  popular classes in literature right here at Vista. And as an extra bonus, Joan’s husband Jerry is a retired drama teacher and actor who directs melodramas featuring the community’s very own “Vista del Monte Players.”
