Meet New Friends
Vista del Monte is a community of unique people who share a common love of life and joyful approach to retirement. Our residents also share bonds that often extend beyond their lives here. Residents Elsie Sklar and Sarah Chernoff became acquainted ushering at a local theatre, only to discover that they both attended Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, New York at the same time! Their friendship has only grown from there as residents at Vista del Monte. Kelly Saunders and Flora Furby sat across from each other in the dining room one evening and struck up a conversation. It wasn’t long before they, too, figured out that they had both graduated from Santa Barbara High School in the same year. They were friends back then, but had only known each other by their maiden names. They’ve since rekindled this long-lost friendship.
Junemarie Reynolds moved into Vista only to have her husband pass away five months later. But Junemarie soon met the second love of her life, Howard Merrill, at a Vista St. Patrick’s Day party and they married a year later. This followed a pattern in Junemarie’s family. Her parents lived at Vista and when her mother passed away, her father fell in love again and married a fellow resident. Today, Junie and Howard Merrill live a vibrant, joyful life at Vista del Monte.
